Zach Miller discovered snowboarding as a space in which to define himself as an athlete. In Nothing To Hide, directed by Lucas Osborne, the American snowboarder speaks about cerebral palsy, his first runs and a sporting journey that leads him to Paralympic competition.

His interview is interwoven with photographs, archive footage, training and images on the slopes. The documentary moves through the disciplines Miller has practised and also considers a serious back injury and the work involved in dealing with its consequences.

The film shows preparation for races and Miller’s relationship with disciplines including snowboard cross and banked slalom. After the injury, medical appointments, rehabilitation and a return to daily work enter the story alongside the difficulty of redefining sporting goals.

At its centre is the way Miller talks about his identity: from wanting to hide his disability to choosing to discuss it as part of his experience in sport. Preparation, equipment and work with the team accompany that reflection. The American documentary runs for approximately twenty minutes.
