The Plot
One for All is a creative documentary that chronicles the life of Áron Szilágyi, one of the greatest fencers in history. Directed by András Pires Muhi, the film captures the key stages of Szilágyi’s career with the pace of a feature film. The documentary features exclusive live sporting and private scenes of the Hungarian fencer, who has won three Olympic, two World, and three European championships. The film follows Szilágyi as he faces the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic at the Tokyo Olympics and ends up making history.
The Awards
One for All has been a finalist at the International Sport Film Festival (ISFF) 2022. The documentary has also won the grand prize (Guirlande d’ Honneur) in the Olympic Spirit category at the 40th FICTS International Sports Film Festival in Milan. It is the first Hungarian film to win such an award. The film has also won the documentary category at the Los Angeles Hungarian Film Festival.
The Production
The documentary was co-produced by ELF Pictures and Bulb Cinema between 2016 and 2021, with the support of the National Film Institute, Future FM, and Generali. The film was shot over five years, with director András Pires Muhi capturing nearly 600 hours of raw footage with Áron Szilágyi and the Hungarian national sword team. The documentary’s original music is composed by Csaba Kalotás and titled Aaron, which is available to listen to on Spotify.
