Before the major races come a home, a family and the first rides. Directed by Darcy Wittenburg, This is Home - Mathieu van der Poel meets the cyclist in the places of his everyday life and connects his public figure with the people and routines around him.

Photographs, newspapers and childhood images open the story of a family connected to cycling. The film recalls his grandfather Raymond Poulidor alongside the voices of people who knew Mathieu growing up. Races and victories enter a story that also concerns his personal relationship with the bicycle.

His father Adrie and grandfather Raymond both belong to cycling history, but the interviews bring that lineage back to family memories and everyday gestures. Racing images sit alongside time spent training and riding away from competition.

The film then follows training, time with friends and family, and a return to mountain biking. Created by Anthill Films for Shimano Originals, it combines interviews, archive material and sports footage. The Canadian documentary runs for approximately thirteen minutes.
