A Muay Thai gym becomes a place of encounter and training for Blair in the short film directed by Jim Morrison IV.
Blair enters a Muay Thai gym after leaving an abusive relationship. The spaces, sounds and people she encounters do not erase the fear she lives with. In Reverberate, directed by Jim Morrison IV, her introduction to the sport begins with simple movements and relationships built one training session at a time.
Camilla and Jackson, who run the gym, welcome her into an environment she initially finds difficult to navigate. Between exercises, corridors and the ring, Blair comes to know a group and grows familiar with the practice. The possibility of a fight tests that journey without turning it into an instant solution.
The story pays attention to learning: movements are repeated, training partners change and the gym becomes somewhere Blair returns to. Sport does not erase what she has lived through, but it gives her a place to explore a different relationship with others.
The short alternates the shared space of training with more solitary moments at home. Written by and starring Jewel Hargrove, Reverberate observes the relationship between memory, trust and the body through the routine of a gym. The American film runs for approximately twenty minutes.
