Lagun is a 15-minute, 46-second biographical and social documentary produced in Spain and directed by Juan Larrañaga. The film tells the story of Ander Goenaga, a young Basque surfer with a disability particularly affecting his limbs, through his human and sporting journey.
The documentary’s central theme is adaptive surfing, the discipline that has allowed Ander to establish himself internationally. The film focuses on his deep bond with the sea, which, despite his physical difficulties, represents a space of freedom and safety for him.
Ander Goenaga is at the centre of the narrative, presented both as an athlete – European champion and fourth place finisher at the adaptive-surfing world championships in California – and through his personal life, marked by everyday obstacles and the constant support of people close to him. His own appearance as the documentary’s protagonist adds authenticity and immediacy to a story developed through training sessions, competitions and family-life moments.

Made with filming in Spain, Lagun is not a student project and is a mature work by the already established director Juan Larrañaga. Martín Fuentes produced it and Guillermo Lobato was cinematographer. The film was completed on 1 September 2024.
