International Sport Film Festival 2026: a Molise preview in Campitello Matese
Cinema, sport and local area meet on 10 and 11 August during the summer programme of San Massimo and Campitello MateseThe International Sport Film Festival begins its journey toward the 2026 edition with a special preview in Molise.
On 10 and 11 August 2026, Campitello Matese will host two days devoted to sports cinema in a captivating natural setting at around 1,500 metres above sea level. The initiative is organised in collaboration with the Municipality of San Massimo and will be included in the 2026 summer programme for San Massimo and Campitello Matese. It is conceived as a first step towards the new edition of the International Sport Film Festival, scheduled in Castellammare di Stabia from 23 to 28 November 2026. The Molise preview was created to bring the language of sports cinema outside traditional festival spaces, transforming Campitello Matese into a place for encounters, storytelling and sharing.
Screenings, encounters and stories of sport
Over the two days, afternoon screenings of films in competition and works selected from previous festival editions are planned, together with opportunities for discussion with figures from sport, cinema and culture.
The events will be held approximately between 5 and 7 p.m.
If weather conditions allow, the programme may also be enriched by outdoor evening events, with screenings and cinematic suggestions conceived to accompany audiences in an informal, engaging atmosphere.
A different way to experience cinema: not merely as viewing, but as a collective experience amid nature, sport, sociality and local area.
A distributed cultural project
With the Campitello Matese preview, the International Sport Film Festival confirms its desire to grow as a distributed cultural project, able to bring together places, communities and different generations through images and sport's universal values: inclusion, resilience, fairness, passion and overcoming personal limits.
After the experience gained in previous editions, the festival continues its path with an ever-broader vision, bringing sports cinema also to symbolic and evocative places, where audiovisual storytelling can become an opportunity for cultural, tourism and social promotion.
The Campitello Matese event will therefore be a true preview of ISFF 2026: a first step toward the new festival edition and, at the same time, an opportunity to celebrate Molise, the mountains and sport's capacity to generate emotions, encounters and new perspectives.
