The documentary “Fight to the End”, directed by Gergely Gémesi, takes us into the competitive, intense world of fencing, following Csanád Gémesi, a leading Hungarian men's foil athlete, with particular attention to his engagement in national and international competitions.
The film explores not only Gémesi's sporting career but also his human side, showing his everyday life, sacrifices and the dedication required to reach the European elite. The 59-minute work recounts his path to the European Champion title, offering a privileged view of the balance between family and sporting life.
Csanád Gémesi appears as himself, making the account even more authentic and direct. Through interviews and training scenes, a narrative inspired by determination, humility and perseverance develops, all central elements of his sporting biography.
With this work, director Gergely Gémesi makes his documentary debut. After studying film at Vitéz János College, he gained audiovisual experience by collaborating with Voila Pictures on several projects. “Fight to the End” is the result of a passionately pursued project in which he balances sport with personal, educational and social dimensions.
The premiere was held on 12 March 2024 in Gödöllő, Hungary, the same day as the film's completion. The production is not connected to an academic environment and is not a student project.
