Between Two Worlds: The Documentary is a documentary short directed and produced by sports presenter and content creator Megan Reyes, author of the podcast of the same name that inspired the film. Made between the United States and the Philippines, it explorescultural and sporting identity, intertwining the director's personal journey with the growth of women's football in the Asian country.
The film follows Megan on her first journey to her country of origin, where discovering her roots intertwines with the rise of the Philippine women's national football team. Through images of training, matches and first-hand testimony, it shows how sport can become a means of rediscovering oneself and promoting collective belonging.
Those featured include members of the Philippine Women’s National Team, appearing as themselves. The narrative alternates intimate moments of personal reflection with sequences showing the athletes' determination and passion as they build a new chapter in their country's football history.
The film's central message concerns the value of identity, representation and national pride, themes emerging strongly both in the director's autobiographical perspective and in the journey of the Filipino footballers.
Produced by A.J. Calomay, Camille Rodriguez, Jose Acuna V, Melanie Lim (Hattori) and Chris Snellings, with cinematography by Evan Bledsoe, the documentary was completed on 29 July 2025. It had its Los Angeles premiere in August 2025at the Summer Screening Series of the Manila International Film Festival.
