The film “Doppio Passo” is registered at the International Sport Film Festival 2024. Doppio Passo is the story of  Claudio, the legendary captain of Carrarese Calcio, enjoys success in both football and family life.

Synopsis of Doppio Passo

Claudio is the legendary captain of Carrarese Calcio, a leading force, both in football and family life. Everything seems to be going great: the team reaches promotion to Serie B ( higher league) and, together with his wife, he finally opens the restaurant he has always wanted to, in order to stabilise the family’s economic future. The long-awaited Serie B, however, turns out to be a doom: Claudio’s contract is not renewed due to his age. It will be the beginning of the decline, as an athlete and as a man. Claudio will be dragged into a vortex of events that will undermine his certainties and his own moral rigor.

Lorenzo Borghini was born on July 19, 1988 in Florence. During college (2010) he directed his first short movie “Riflessi” (Reflections) at the age of 21. In 2011 he attended the 16th edition of the Busan International Film Festival to write his dissertation on contemporary Korean cinema, in addition he joined Im Sang-soo’s crew on the set of “The Taste of Money”. In 2013 he graduated in DAMS (Arts, Music and Entertainment Disciplines) at the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of Florence. He is co-founder and Artistic Director of the Florence Short Film Festival since October 2014, the most important event dedicated to short movies in Florence. In 2014 he directed his second short film “L’Attesa” (The Waiting), that was selected at the 65th Montecatini International Short Film Festival and was awarded with the Honourable Mention. In 2015 he directed his third short movie “In vino veritas”, selected at BlackBird Film Fest 2015 and Queen City Film Festival 2015 in Hollywood among other international festivals. In 2017 he published his first book “Diario di un viaggiatore sentimentale: La Cina tra luci e ombre” (Diary of a sentimental traveller: China between lights and shadows), with the preface written by Umberto Cecchi. In 2019 his fourth short film “Scorze di luce” (Glimmers of Light) was released and selected in 16 international festivals. In 2020 he directed “Strade interrotte” (When the roads end), a road safety awareness documentary. The film was released on CHILI on March 16, 2021. It has currently been selected “in competition” at 15 festivals and has won 4 awards. In 2021 he directed “Il pittore dei due mondi” (The Painter of Two Worlds), a documentary on the florentine artist Luca Alinari, released on theaters on January 18, 2023. In 2022 he directed his feature film “Doppio passo” (Step Over), with leading actors Giulio Beranek, Valeria Bilello and Giordano De Plano.
